A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stealing more than €4,000 worth of items from three different houses earlier this month, police said early on Thursday.

Officers found the man in a Larnaca hotel, where he was staying, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday and arrested him.

The arrest came after evidence emerged connecting him totwo home burglaries and a theft from a house, carried out on September 6 and 8.

From the three houses, the suspect appears to have stolen mobile phones worth €2,500, a wallet which contained an ID and bank cards of one home owner, as well as other items worth more than €1,700, police said.
