A 21-year-old was jailed for three years and a 23-year for four year and a half after being found guilty by the Larnaca Criminal Court on Thursday for 14 cases of illegal possession of an automatic firearm and explosives.

The Criminal Court took into account the admission of guilt by the two young men, their cooperation with the authorities, their young age, the clean criminal record and their family circumstances.

The 21-year-old was detained on October 26, 2021, after officers, who acted on a tip-off, carried out a search of his car where they found an automatic firearm, cartridge cases and cartridges.

The 23-year-old was arrested on November 4, 2021, after investigations were made to verify the data and the origin of the automatic firearm.
