A Nicosia hotel was evacuated on Friday early afternoon after a fire broke out on the roof, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis has said.
Three fire engines, including a mounted telescopic mast, rushed to the Hilton Hotel on Grivas Dighenis avenue after receiving information about a fire on the roof.
However, the fire was put out before firefighters arrived at the scene.
Meanwhile, the management of the hotel had evacuated the premises as a preventive measure based on the action plan implemented in similar scenarios.
The fire appears to have been caused by work varied out on the roof and was extinguished by the workers themselves.
