A new exhibition in Nicosia chronicles the history of football in Cyprus. This new temporary exhibition at the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia reveals the sports journey on the island, having at its core the capital, from the beginning of colonialism until the 1960s. Now in its first week of operation, the exhibition also runs two parallel events, one for adults and one for children.

On Wednesday afternoon, a guided tour in Greek with exhibition curator Antigone Heraclidou will take visitors around the display for a closer look. The one-hour tour, starting at 5pm, will reveal everything one needs to know about the development of this popular sport in the capital as it emerges through unique exhibits and rich photographic material.

Just before the tour begins, so will a children’s crafty workshop. The museum will prepare a festive atmosphere within the framework of its exhibition, inviting young visitors aged 6 to 12 to join museum educators for a fun artsy afternoon. From 4.30pm to 5.30pm, children will have the opportunity to make their own unique ball ornaments for Christmas trees, inspired by the exhibition’s context.
