During the meeting, the president said that Cyprus has always maintained friendly relations with Iraq, and that there are many opportunities for cooperation, which in his previous position as foreign minister he had discussed with his Iraqi counterpart in various meetings.

Al-Sudani said there are many areas in which bilateral cooperation between the countries can be developed and extended an open invitation to the president to visit.

Accepting the invitation, Christodoulides said that Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos will go to Iraq in November to prepare for an upcoming visit of the president to Baghdad.
