On the occasion of hosting the performance Erotokritos by Vincenzo Kornaros of the National Theatre of Northern Greece by the Nicosia International Festival and in the framework of the festival’s cooperation with the University of Cyprus, an open discussion with the audience is organised this week with Professor Dr Mary Roussou of the University of Cyprus.
The discussion will take place within the framework of the Parallel Programme of the Nicosia International Festival at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre at 7.30pm on January 10 and admission is free.
The professor has been teaching Modern Greek Literature at the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, University of Cyprus since 2008 and her research interests include travel literature, comparative literature, literary theory, history of ideas, 19th and 20th century poetry and prose, and the relationship between literature and the visual arts.
This Wednesday, moments before the Erotokritos performance takes the stage, the professor and interested audience members will engage in a discussion on this piece. An hour later, at 8.30pm, the Onassis Cultural Centre production will be presented live at the theatre, as directed by Argyro Chioti.
