A couple in Paphos was fined €1,800 by the Customs Department on Tuesday for possessing a large quantity of untaxed tobacco products, which were subsequently confiscated.

Paphos Assistant Police Director, Michalis Nikolaou, reported that police found a vehicle owned by the couple in Timi on Tuesday. Inside, they discovered 15 boxes of cigarettes and 19 packs of tobacco, none of which bore the required taxation markings for the Republic. It is suspected that the tobacco was smuggled, most likely from the north.

The couple, aged 50 and 47, were fined €1,800 by the Customs Department, and the tobacco was confiscated.
