Fuel import prices in Cyprus, excluding taxes, show unexplained variations, according to a statement released by the Cyprus Consumers Association on Monday.
The association said that “in almost all cases, the average price of fuel imports in Cyprus is higher than the European Union average.”
Specifically, it added that “during periods when the average price excluding taxes in EU member states is rising, the difference between the average price in Cyprus and the EU average decreases”.
“Conversely, during periods when the average price in EU member states is falling, the difference between the average price in Cyprus and the EU average increases,” it added.
The observations have been recorded throughout 2024, with the association calling for clear explanations after questioning “whether the relevant authority monitoring fuel prices has any answers”.
