Deputy Shipping Minister Marina Hadjimanolis strengthened Cyprus’ maritime ties with Oman by signing two crucial Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) this week in Muscat.

These agreements focus on maritime cooperation and mutual recognition of certificates of competency for merchant ship officers and were signed with Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The MoUs affirm the mutual intent of both Cyprus and Oman to bolster cooperation at a bilateral level and within international maritime organisations.

This collaboration underlines a shared commitment to enhancing global maritime governance and deepening the maritime relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister will proceed to Qatar to participate in the ‘Seatrade Maritime Qatar exhibition and conference 2025’, following an invitation from Qatar’s Minister of Transport, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani.

While in Qatar, Hadjimanolis is expected to hold further bilateral discussions with her Qatari counterpart and engage in a series of meetings aimed at promoting Cypriot shipping interests in the region.
