Construction of the Tombs of the Kings to Coral Bay road in the Paphos district is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, it was announced on Wednesday.
The ministry of transport, after sending the details of the plan to the municipality, is at the stage of requesting the opinions of the district authority (EOAP), Akamas Mayor Marinos Lambrou told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
The road continues to be of enormous importance for the economic development of the region,” Lambrou said. The planned eight-kilometer, four-lane project, bordered by bike paths and green strips, is to include undergrounding of lighting and optic fibres, which will upgrading of the region, the mayor said.
Elsewhere, construction plans for the Tombs of the Kings to Peyia road are progressing, President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce George Mais, told CNA.
A week ago the ministry of transport, communications and works, together with the consultant, had proceeded to a final consultation with the deputy ministry of tourism, as the road is to pass through the [planned] Paphos Marina area.
“Planning and study for the project are progressing normally,” he said.
