The number of bounced cheques recorded in Cyprus reached 16 in August 2025, with a total value of €52,891, according to data published on Wednesday by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

These cases were added to the preliminary list of the Central Information Register for issuers of bounced cheques.

The central bank said that six entities, including two legal entities and four individuals, were added to the preliminary list in August 2025.

Between January and August 2025, a total of 161 bounced cheques were registered, amounting to €365,490.

These related to 82 issuers, of which 46 were companies and 36 were individuals.

The Central Bank also confirmed that the number of persons recorded in the Central Information Register in August 2025 came to 17.

This figure included six companies, four individuals, and seven individuals who were identified as controlling companies.

From January to August 2025, 80 persons were registered in the Central Information Register.

This number was made up of 29 companies, 18 individuals, and 33 individuals who were recorded as having control over companies.
