Marios Skandalis has been appointed director general of the Association of Cyprus Banks, succeeding Michalis Kammas.

He will officially assume leadership of the association on January 1, 2026.

According to an announcement issued by the Association of Cyprus Banks, the board of directors selected Skandalis for the position of director general following a process carried out over recent months.

The association mentioned that Skandalis brings extensive experience in the banking sector, specialising in compliance, organisation and governance.

He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus and previously served as its president.

Moreover, the association stated that he is already familiar with its work, having collaborated in the past on a series of successful initiatives and projects.

This includes missions to the United States and the European Union aimed at improving the international image of the Cypriot banking sector.

The outgoing director general, Michalis Kammas, welcomed Skandalis to the association’s offices for an introductory meeting with the staff and the organisation’s procedures.

Kammas said that “a very strong team of executives will support the vision and plan that Skandalis will bring with him, ensuring the continuity and progress of the work of the association”.

On his part, Skandalis said that “I feel blessed to work with such a fantastic team for the wellbeing of Cyprus society and its businesses, further strengthening the resilience of our association and showcasing it as an operating model both nationally and at European level”.
