Six people were arrested in overnight police operations to crack down on crime.

One driver was caught driving at 160km/h instead of 50km/h. He was arrested and will be taken before the Nicosia district court on Wednesday for a remand order.

The police pulled over 529 vehicles and checked a total of 789 drivers and passengers. Out of 291 individuals booked, 109 were for speeding. The police also reported one individual for drink driving and impounded 11 vehicles.

They also inspected 28 establishments and filed one report.
