Cyprus’ Deputy Ministry of Shipping will hold its third annual educational day, “I Know the World of Shipping,” on Tuesday, March 31, in Limassol, as part of efforts to bring more young people closer to the maritime sector.
The event, organised in cooperation with the Counselling and Vocational Educational Service of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, will take place at the Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) Maritime Education Center at Limassol Marina from 8.30am to 12pm.
This year’s edition is aimed at first- and second-year high school students, as well asTesek (Technical schools) students from Limassol and Paphos, with the focus on introducing them to the world of shipping and giving them a clearer picture of a sector that remains one of the most important for the Cypriot economy and labour market.
The deputy ministry said the event is designed to familiarise students with a dynamic and constantly evolving industry, while also drawing attention to the professional opportunities shipping can offer in Cyprus.
The event will be held in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Shipping, who is expected to deliver a welcome address.
During the day, students will attend presentations on maritime professions and take part in experiential simulation workshops, gaining hands-on exposure to operations on the bridge and in the engine room.
According to the deputy ministry, the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen maritime awareness among young people, while emphasising the sector’s importance for employment and the wider economy in Cyprus.
