Rainfall in March was almost double the usual amount for this time of year, reaching 182 per cent, the met office said on Tuesday.

According to the met office’s data, rainfall in the period from March 1 to March 30 amounted to 112.5mm, comparing to an average monthly rainfall of 61.9 mm.

The Paphos villages Stavros tis Psokas, Pano Panagia, as well as regions in the Troodos including Platania and Saittas received the highest amount of rainfall during the month.

The largest amount of rainfall during the period in question was recorded in Stavros tis Psokas with 253 millimeters, corresponding to 217 per cent of normal for month.

This was followed by Saittas with a total of 179.5 millimeters of rain, around 215 per cent of its normal.

Pano Panagia recorded 204.5 millimeters of rain – 200 per cent of its average rainfall.

In Platania, the total average rainfall stood at 201.5 millimeters, 179 per cent of its average monthly rainfall in March.
