The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) celebrated its 65th anniversary this week by highlighting its enduring contribution to the accounting profession and the economic development of the country on April 8, 2026.

A symbolic ceremony marked the occasion as the President of ICPAC, Odysseas Christodoulou, and the new General Director, Andreas Papadatos, blew out the candles on an anniversary cake to signal the continuation of a journey defined by consistency and evolution.

The moment underscored the collective journey and the continuous evolution of the organisation over the decades since its establishment.

As part of the official celebrations, the ICPAC building was illuminated to symbolically honour the trajectory of the association over more than six decades.

“The completion of sixty-five years since the establishment of ICPAC represents a milestone with significant institutional and historical importance,” said Christodoulou.

He further mentioned that “this journey reflects consistency, seriousness, and the profession’s enduring contribution to shaping a modern economic environment”.

“Guided by knowledge, professional integrity and collective effort, we continue with a clear strategic direction, strengthening the role of the profession and actively contributing to the sustainable development of the Cypriot economy,” Christodoulou added.

Since its founding in 1961, ICPAC has been present at all critical phases of the country’s growth, playing a decisive role in economic reconstruction, the body mentioned.

The institute added that it has also been instrumental in the modernisation of the institutional and tax framework while promoting transparency and regulatory compliance.

To mark this significant anniversary, ICPAC has planned a series of events and initiatives aimed at enhancing its outreach and social contribution.

Among these is a financial literacy event open to the public which is scheduled for April 25, 2026, at the Youth Makerspace in Salina Park, Larnaca.

The event will welcome primary, secondary, and high school students along with university students and the wider public.

Participants will gain familiarity with basic economic principles including personal and family finances, savings, loans, and investments.

The programme will also feature interactive workshops and real-life simulations to offer attendees exposure to the accounting profession and money management.

Further celebrations will continue with the General Assembly of ICPAC which is scheduled to take place on June 18, 2026.

The organisation noted that this meeting will maintain its dynamic presence and activity within the professional sphere.

On the occasion of the anniversary, ICPAC reaffirmed its commitment to continue responsibly and strategically to reinforce the role of the profession.

The institute aims to continue contributing meaningfully to the economy and society of Cyprus as it enters its next decade of operation.
