The National Guard has acquired the capability to design and produce small unmanned aerial systems.

Chief Lieutenant General Emmanouel Theodorou visited the newly established laboratory, where he was briefed on the force’s capabilities in designing and producing drones domestically, alongside prospects for their further development and operational use.

According to the army’s announcement, the new facility represents a substantial step in its technological and operational transformation.

The laboratory forms part of the defence ministry’s concerted effort to modernise the army, amid growing recognition of the role small drones now play in reconnaissance during contemporary conflicts.
