A vehicle caught fire shortly after midnight while parked outside its owner’s home in Xylofagou in the Famagusta district, the fire department said on Thursday.

They received a call at 12.38am and sent three fire engines which brought the fire under control at 12.50am. The vehicle’s engine was damaged by the fire and heat.

An electrical or mechanical failure appears to have been the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident.
