Police booked 169 individuals for breaching coronavirus measures in 24 hours from Monday until 6am on Tuesday, most of them for leaving their homes without having sent the required SMS.

11,202 checks were carried out, 2,448 in Nicosia, 2,307 in Limassol, 1,627 in Larnaca, 1,745 in Paphos, 1,329 in Famagusta and 922 in the Morphou district.

74 inspections were conducted by marine police, 743 by traffic police and seven by the rapid response unit.

Nearly half of the 169 violations were recorded in Limassol where 82 persons were fined.
