Coronavirus: no new deaths, 67 positives announced on Monday (Updated)

The health ministry said on Monday there had been no new Covid deaths as it announced 67 new positives from 21,250 PCR and rapid tests, yielding a positivity rate of 0.32 per cent.

The death toll remains at 378 since March last year with an average age of 77.

There are currently 46 people in hospital of whom 19 are in serious condition. Of these, 10 are intubated.

Of the 21,250 diagnoses on Monday, 4,944 were PCR and 16,306 were rapid tests detecting 67 positives as follows:

  • 11 from 4,399 samples taken at airports 
  • 3 from 477 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 5 from 68 samples processed at hospital labs
  • 1 from 194 rapid tests done at  private labs and pharmacies
  • 47 from 16,112 samples taken under the ministry’s screening programme 

In addition, 467 samples taken in the national guard, and 21 in care homes, turned up no positives.

By district:

Nicosia detected 9 from 6,318 tests – positivity 0.14 per cent

Limassol saw 16 from 3,684 – positivity 0.43

Larnaca had 8 from 2,632 tests – positivity 0.3

Paphos saw 5 from 1,536 tests – positivity 0.33

Famagusta saw 9 from 1,454 – positivity 0.62
