Coronavirus: First dose vaccinations top 70 per cent

So far 70 per cent of the adult population has received at least the first dose of a vaccine, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

According to the data released by the health ministry, until Tuesday, 70.4 per cent of the adult population, aged 18 and over, has received at least the first dose of a vaccine, while 61.6 per cent have completed their vaccination regimen.

By age group, vaccination coverage with at least the first dose reached 22.1 per cent of teenagers aged 16 and 17, 36.2 per cent of people 18 to 19, and 45.9 per cent of the 20 to 29 group. The numbers rise per age group, with those over 80 having the biggest coverage, 94.1 per cent, followed by the 70 to 79 group (93.5 per cent), and those between 60 to 69 (85.1 per cent). So far 77.1 per cent of people in the 50 to 59 group have received at least the first dose of a vaccine, 79.8 per cent of the 40 to 49 group and 60.8 per cent of people between 30 and 39.

Paphos continues to rank first as regards vaccination coverage as 78.8 per cent of the district’s adult population has received at least the first jab, tailed by Famagusta (76.2 per cent), Nicosia (71.2 per cent), Limassol (68.5 per cent) and Larnaca (64.5 per cent).
