Coronavirus: No deaths, 133 people test positive on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry announced on Sunday there had been no new deaths from Covid-19 while 133 positives were recorded from 39,447 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.34 per cent.

There are 69 people in hospitals of whom  23 are in serious condition. Of those, seven are intubated.

The ministry said that of those hospitalised, 66 per cent are unvaccinated.

Of the 39,447 diagnoses made, 3,286 were from PCR tests and 36,161 rapid tests yielding 133  positives as follows:

• 11 from 185 samples taken through contact tracing
• 2 from 1,686  airport checks
• 16 from 997 samples taken through private initiative.
• 1 from 308 GP referrals
• 37 from 16,000 rapid tests at private labs and pharmacies
• 66  from 20,161 samples taken under the ministry’s free programme for eligible groups

In addition, 109 samples processed at hospital labs showed no positives.
