The health ministry announced that there had been no new deaths from Covid-19 and that 2,332 people had tested positive from 38,977 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 5.98 per cent.
Testing and positives were significantly down on Saturday due to the public holiday. On Friday, a record of over 5,000 tested positive from a record of more than 169,000 tests.
There are 187 people in hospitals of whom 82 are in serious condition. Of these, 32 are intubated. The death toll remains at 638.
The ministry said that the percentage of unvaccinated patients was 85 per cent.
Of the 38,977 tests on Saturday, 8,525 were PCR and 30,452 rapid tests detecting 2,332 positives as follows:
- 57 from 4,674 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos airports.
- 388 from 3,615 samples taken through private initiative.
- 21 from 236 tests at hospital labs.
- 1,008 from 14,473 rapid tests at private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 858 from 15,979 tests done under the free programme for eligible groups.
