Dozens of Cypriots were reportedly stranded at Stanstead airport for over a day after their Ryanair flight did not depart on Monday morning as scheduled.

The travel chaos was blamed on the cold snap which paralysed parts of the UK on Sunday and Monday, with many of those at Stanstead having to sleep at the airport.

By mid-day, the Ryanair flight to Paphos was scheduled to leave within two to three hours.

Stanstead along with London’s Gatwick were badly hit by the travel disruption.

Heavy snowfall blanketed parts of Britain on Monday, disrupting airports, train networks and roads.
