A total of 18 people had been deported from Cyprus by Thursday after being involved in a physical fight at the Pournara reception centre earlier this month.

Police say 11 more people are set to be deported in the near future. They are currently being held at the Menoyia detention centre.

According to reports at the time, groups of Nigerian and Syrian nationals engaged in physical fights at the centre following a football match, and police resorted to using tear gas to put an end to the violence.
