The Limassol Marathon, the largest sporting event in Cyprus, has welcomed a valuable new partner. The event will now be known as the XM Limassol Marathon, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership with XM, one of the world’s leading financial services providers.
The partnership agreement was officially signed on May 26, 2025 at a ceremony attended by representatives from XM and Limassol Marathon organisers. The collaboration confirms the momentum and recognition the Marathon has gained in recent years, both locally and internationally.
Spyros Spyrou, Chairman of the Limassol Marathon Board, hailed the sporting event’s tie with XM.
“The partnership with XM opens a new, exciting chapter for the Limassol Marathon, a journey filled with opportunities, solidarity and international reach,” he noted. “XM is a leader in corporate social responsibility initiatives and a passionate ally in our mission. Our goal is for the Limassol Marathon to promote not only sport, but also to enhance Limassol’s global presence, encourage volunteerism, inclusion and environmental awareness. With XM, we aim to raise the bar even higher, offering runners an enhanced experience and giving even more back to society.”
For her part, Stavri Morti, Co-CEO of XM, expressed her own anticipation at the collaboration. “The XM Limassol Marathon represents values that mirror our own: excellence and long-term value through world-class events, and social contribution through initiatives that promote health, active participation and the common good,” she said. “Preparing for an endurance race requires strategy, planning and execution – exactly what business success demands. This is one more reason why we feel so connected to this event.”
Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis, meanwhile, highlighted the significance of the collaboration for his city. “This is a truly Limassolian affair, and I firmly believe that both the event and the partnership behind it can significantly elevate the city’s profile,” he stressed. “This initiative has my full support, as well as the backing of the Limassol Municipal Council. As a Municipality, we are committed to facilitating every effort that benefits and promotes our city. With events of this calibre, neither the Mayor nor the wider local community should be absent. We are present, wholeheartedly and with full commitment.”

Significance of the partnership
The new title, XM Limassol Marathon, reflects the strategic direction of the event to attract global partners and strengthen its international identity. At the same time, this collaboration unlocks new opportunities in runner experience, technology, innovation, social contribution and environmental sustainability.
Power of giving back
As part of the XM Limassol Marathon’s social mission, this year’s event will reinforce its commitment to solidarity. With respect and dedication to the principles of giving back, each participant will have the option during registration to add a small symbolic donation to their entry. This contribution will be directed entirely to support a non-profit organisation aiding vulnerable groups across the country. A small gesture by each of us that can make a significant difference for many.
Through this initiative, the XM Limassol Marathon strengthens its role as a major platform for social impact, actively promoting Corporate Social Responsibility with the support of the entire running community.
The XM Limassol Marathon has officially kicked off its 2026 campaign, inviting all runners to save the dates: March 21–22, 2026.
