Police on Wednesday were investigating an incident in Nicosia during which multiple shots were fired at an upmarket restaurant.

No one was injured in the incident as the establishment, the Skinny Fox, was closed at the time. The shooting had not been reported until the morning when the owner went to open it.

The perpetrator or perpetrators apparently fired multiple rounds using an automatic weapon.

Officers were investigating the scene at the city centre, which was strewn with spent cartridges.

The same restaurant had been the target of arsonists about a year ago.
