Limassol municipality has prepared 500 Easter packages which it will be distributing to needy families through its social grocery, mayor Nicos Nicolaides said on Monday.

During a visit to the social grocery, the mayor was briefed by municipality employees and volunteers about the effort. He thanked all those who contributed and assured that help will continue to be offered for as long as it is needed.

This year’s Easter packages are being offered in memory of Evpraxia Anastasiou. “Our town and our country are going through another difficult Easter from various aspects,” he said, expressing the hope that the packages – proof that the town has a big heart – will bring joy to the 500 families that they will be distributed to.

Nicolaides also announced that the municipality’s Panos Solomonides cultural centre will soon operate as a vaccination centre to facilitate the states’ vaccination drive. A decision to offer the centre for vaccinations was taken by the municipal council on Thursday and state services have been informed, he said.

Health ministry sources told the Cyprus News Agency that the necessary preparations will be made so that the new centre can operate after the Easter holidays, making it the fifth vaccination centre in Limassol district in addition to those at the old Limassol Hospital, Linopetra health centre, Spyros Kyprianou sports centre and Troodos Hospital at Kyperounda.
