The Bank of Cyprus has reactivated its special initiative SupportCY to provide immediate cover for the needs of patients being treated in Covid-19 wards.

Thanks to the ongoing pandemic crisis and rising numbers of infections, Cyprus is weathering yet another difficult period, corresponding to increased admissions at Okypy hospitals.

Nevertheless, through the SupportCY initiative, the Bank of Cyprus is once more helping to meet the needs of coronavirus patients.

Most recently, observing all coronavirus health and safety protocols, SupportCY volunteers prepared packages full of essentials and toiletries that were later sent to those being treated in hospital.

The packages were put together thanks to contributions from:

  • The Bank of Cyprus
  • NGO Reaction
  • Smart Discount Shops
  • Politis Newspaper
  • Athienites Department Store

In addition to the packages, 1,000 bottles of water were delivered to Nicosia General Hospital and Makarios Hospital on behalf of the Photos Photiades Group and the Bank of Cyprus. Meanwhile, 2,100 more bottles of water have been offered to the Nicosia and Limassol hospitals, the children’s hospital and the Famagusta reference hospital.

Deliveries were made by the Cyprus Reservists’ Union’s Volunteer Emergency Services Unit (Etea).

Today, SupportCY counts 122 members and its numbers keep growing. Any business or organisation interested in participating in the initiative can email: [email protected]
