Elderly couple robbed at knifepoint in their home

Three masked men robbed an elderly couple at knifepoint in their Limassol home in the early morning hours of Saturday, police said.

The incident took place at around 2.20am in Ayia Phyla. Police said the couple, aged 83 and 80, were asleep in their bedroom when they were awakened by three masked men wielding knives.

The men demanded money from the man in broken Greek, threatening to do them harm.

The elderly couple handed over an envelope containing €1,500 in cash, after which the robbers fled the scene.

Investigators later determined that the robbers had entered the house through the kitchen door, which did not appear to have any signs of a break in.
