Popular app TikTok is rapidly stealing the spotlight from Instagram as the online place to showcase and influence fashion and style trends.
The app was launched in 2018 and is hugely popular among Generation Z – teens and adults born 1997 onwards. Using TikTok, creators post videos with a maximum length of 60 seconds, which then get shown on multiple users’ ‘For You Pages’. Users then simply scroll down their personalised page, curated by the app’s algorithm, and react to videos by liking, commenting and creating video responses in turn.
