Bicommunal clean-up of old Nicosia this Saturday

poster (1)

This Saturday Let’s Do It! Cyprus will organise the first bicommunal clean-up within the walled city of Nicosia called ‘Let’s Do It! Nicosia’ with the support of Home of Cooperation, CyprusInno, Unite Cyprus and the NGO Together Cyprus.

Let’s Do it! Cyprus is a part of the Let’s Do It! world foundation, and is the national clean-up campaign and the biggest environmental volunteering action across the island. During the last five years, more than 165,000 heroes participated in trash management and this Saturday they are inviting more environmentally conscious people from both communities to clean up areas situated within the 11 bastions of the Venetian city.

The clean-up also marks World Clean-up Day which is celebrated every second week of September across the world and aims to unite more than 20 million people in 180 countries.

The Nicosia event will begin in two places simultaneously, Phaneromeni Square in the southern part of the city and Buyuk Han in the northern part, at 10.30am. Following a route covering approximately four bastions on each side, the clean-up will end at a mutual point – the Home for Cooperation. Cleaning materials will be provided by the organising team on both sides while all volunteers are advised to bring their own reusable gloves. What do you say Nicosia? Will you do it?
