376 traffic offences reported in Famagusta district in one day

Police reported 376 traffic offences over the course of 24 hours in the Famagusta district during a coordinated road safety operation.

According to a statement released by the police, 94 motorists were booked for speeding, 61 for failing to renew their registration permits, 54 for using the mobile phone while driving, 50 for failing to wear a seat belt, 22 for ignoring traffic signs and the remaining 95 for other offences.

The operation, which began on Tuesday at 6am was carried out in the context of preventing and suppressing traffic violations and consolidating road awareness among the public.
