Police arrested three men, 24, 31 and 34 in relation to the discovery of 5.8 kilos of cannabis in Larnaca.

The first arrest occurred when members of the drug squad stopped the car of a 34-year-old man for a check in the district on Wednesday.

During the search, officers found 2kg and 120g of cannabis, while an additional 350g of cannabis was found during a later search of his house.

A vacuum sealing machine and a scale were also confiscated from the suspect’s home.

Police said that a second car was spotted in the same area by the drug squad, which signalled the driver to stop.

However, the driver ignored the signal, and officers followed the car which was later found stopped at a nearby road.

The 24-year-old driver was found lying in the back seat of another car they stopped for a check driven by a 31-year-old on the same day.

When the suspect saw the officers, he tried to escape again before police arrested him. About 1g of cannabis was found in his possession.

The suspect directed police to a specific point where he had hidden a box with about 3kg of cannabis. Another 19g were found during a search in his house.

The 31-year-old driver was also arrested.

Later on Wednesday, the drug squad confiscated an additional 310g of cannabis, a scale and a vacuum sealing machine from the house of a 52-year-old man, who is being sought by police.
