Police on Tuesday said they arrested a second suspect on suspicion of staging a dogfight after a video of the crime appeared on social media.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Monday afternoon while a 25-year-old man had been arrested for the same case, police said.

The case was reported to Limassol CID by a shelter volunteer on Saturday who said that a video showing two people forcing two dogs to fight had been uploaded by a specific account on social media.

The arrests occurred after animal police in collaboration with the cybercrime department tracked down the individuals who appeared in the video and secured warrants for their arrest.

The first suspect was arrested around 4.30pm on Sunday in Limassol and was remanded for one day. The older suspect was arrested the day after, police said.
