Three people were remanded in custody for one day following an episode at Paphos welfare office, police said on Thursday.

According to spokesman Michalis Nicolaou, the incident took place around noon on Tuesday after a crowd gathered outside the offices with complaints about their welfare cheques.

Some eventually entered the building, allegedly pushing three social workers and upsetting the staff, prompting them to call the police.

Officers arrested two women and a man for illegally entering the building, assault, and resisting arrest.

The man allegedly attacked an officer, causing injuries to his elbow and finger.
