Police urged motorists to be cautious on Monday after mud and rocks fell onto the road linking Kakopetria, Amiantos, and Troodos, near the Kakopetria flyover, closing one lane.

At the same time, certain roads higher up are only open to vehicles with snow chains or four-wheel drive, police said.

Those roads are Troodos to Prodromos, Platres to Troodos, Karvounas to Troodos, Pinewood to Kakopetria, and Pinewood to Prodromos.

The forestry department said it was using fire engines that can be converted to snow ploughs to clear the roads from the snow and called on the public to be particularly careful and to use the appropriate vehicles.

No problems have been reported in other roads due to weather conditions, police said.
