A 31-year-old Paphos man was fined €200 after he was caught by game wardens using a flashlight to poach in a field on Wednesday evening.

Police said a game service patrol caught the man near the village of Lysos, driving and using a flashlight apparently to spot game in a field.

The use of a flashlight is banned by the law on the protection of wild birds and game.

He was issued a €200 fine and had the flashlight seized.
