Bank of Cyprus’ SupportCY network, the police and Nicosia Mall, are joining forces to implement joint actions that will last until the end of the year. Their initiative aims to raise public awareness and sensitivity on road safety issues, both as it concerns children as well as adults.

As part of the initiative’s first action, which takes place on May 14, from 11am-3pm at Nicosia Mall’s plaza area, the public will become familiarised with police road safety equipment, viewing a patrol car equipped with an Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, a force motorcycle, a mobile alcohol control unit and glasses for simulating drunkenness, drugs and fatigue.

They will also see how child and booster seats are to be correctly used, and have a chance to chat with Road Safety ambassadors Michael Sofocleous and Alexis Demetriou.

The Larnaca Cycling Police will also participate in the event.

Various children’s activities will also feature, with the Police Philharmonic band performing from 1-1.30pm, and ANT1 Radio adding to the event’s musical entertainment.

As a SupportCY member, General Insurance is also participating in the event, given that road safety is an important pillar of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility. Further support is being provided by SupportCy members Petrolina, Epic and ANT1.
