The coast guard on Monday intervened to rescue eight people who found themselves adrift on a boat in the open sea near Pomos.
According to the police spokesperson, the coast guard received a call about the drifting vessel which appeared to have suffered mechanical damage.
The port and maritime police acted immediately and towed the boat to safety in Latchi harbour. Four of the boat’s passengers swam to land while the remaining four were taken with their boat to the port.
The sea was somewhat rough and strong winds were blowing but all passengers arrived unharmed.
