More live music nights are coming up in September with bars around the island bringing back their weekly programme. In Nicosia, Sarah’s Jazz Club is re-opening after a short summer break and launching a new season of events with some classic swing jazz.

Sarah’s Jazz Band will take the stage on September 2 with Sarah Fenwick on vocals accompanied by some of Cyprus’ most active jazz musicians. Marios Charalambous will be on tenor saxophone, Aris Constantinou on guitar, Costas Challoumas on bass and Marios Spyrou on drums. The jazzy evening will kick off at 8.30pm.

Also happening on September 2 is the Hollywood Meet Jazz evening in Limassol. Vinylio Wine Etc hosts a musical tribute by the well-established Steppin’ Out Jazz Band dedicated to the golden songs of jazz used in Classic Hollywood movies. Some examples include Casablanca with As Time Goes By, Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times with the song Smile, and The Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland’s most famous hit Over the Rainbow. Vocalist Alice Ayvazian will be joined by Loukas Louka on the piano to bring exciting arrangements of timeless jazz songs.

A few days later and another popular Limassol bar is set to host local musicians. The Mr Wilson band will perform at the vibrant Mason Bar on September 7 playing a catchy selection of 80s, 90s and the latest music hits with a reggae-funky touch. Giorgos Nicolaou, Michalis Karakatsanis, Rodrigo Caceres, Stefanos R. Iassonides and Antreas Stefanou might even kick the mood up a notch and turn the evening into a music party.

For something a little bit groovier a reggae party by the Roots Crew Reggae System will bring the party atmosphere to the Finikoudes seafront. Joining forces with guest selector from Athens, Sensi Tom, a vibrant Saturday afternoon event will take place on September 3. Vinyl records of roots reggae and dub music will play for a funky, and free, gathering.
