December rainfall 35 times less than usual

The average rainfall from the beginning of December to 8am Monday amounted to just 3 per cent of the normal precipitation for the month, the met service said on Tuesday.

Specifically, according to the data, the average rainfall for this period was 3mm, while the normal figure for the month is 105.6 mm.

The most rain was recorded in Saittas with 26.6mm, corresponding to 19 per cent of the normal amount for the area for the month of December.

This was followed by Platania with 7.6mm, corresponding to only 4 per cent of normal rainfall in the area, Prodromos with 7.4mm (4 per cent) and Frenaros with 7.3mm (9 per cent).

In the last 24 hours, the largest amount of precipitation was recorded in the area of ​​Polis Chrysochous with 3.5mm, marking the first rainfall for the area, and in Pano Panagia with 2.2mm, the first rainfall recorded in the area.
