Merry-go-round exhibition

merry go round

A new group exhibition is opening its doors at Nicosia’s isnotgallery titled Merry-go-round. With its collaboration with up-and-coming, promising Cypriots as well as those of international renown, isnotgallery aims to promote contemporary art on the island to a wider audience. This new exhibition showcases contemporary artworks that speak to the present while looking to the future.

“This Christmas,” says the gallery, “after a pandemic which shook and stopped the whole world, we are finally ready to move forward, ready to leave the past behind and welcome positive thoughts and good vibes, shaking off the darkness and negativity of the past three years. New roads open up in front of us through our artists’ work, through their free minds and creative eyes, helping us redefine today. Contemporary art once again keeps us company, teaches and explores new ways of coping with difficult times.

“Our artists,” they add, “use different media like painting, engraving, ceramics, multimedia and sculpture. Isnotgallery and its artists defend their views in the environment in which they exist and create. The diversity of the medium each of the artists uses reflects common devices and techniques.”

Curated by Andros Efstathiou, the exhibition is set to open on Friday and last until early January featuring pieces by artists Mariella Bilitsa, Yiannos Ioannou, Eleni Kindyni, Maria Kofterou, Haroula Nicolaidou, Despina Petridou, Andreas Skoufaris, Constantinos Stefanou and Vassilis Vassiliades.
