The National Certification Body, which reflects the active promotion of gender equality practices and initiatives within a company, has awarded Lidl Cyprus the ‘Equality Employer’ certification.

This makes Lidl Cyprus the only company in the island’s retail sector to have obtained this certification, which is further proof that it ranks among the leading enterprises for the working environment it offers.

This certification is the culmination of a series of actions focused on Lidl Cyprus’ own people. The criteria on which companies are evaluated rest on equal treatment, equality decision-making and work-life balance activities, as well as the overall corporate culture and company policy.

The company received the certification on December 15 from Labour Minister Kyriacos Koushos.

“We are very proud of this certification, as it confirms our commitment towards an equal work environment, free of discrimination, for all members of our big team,” commented Lidl Cyprus General Manager Spyros Kondylis.

“This certification rewards the initiatives towards strengthening equality that we have already implemented, but also the plans we have for the near future.”

The National Certification Body’s goal is to certify businesses implement policies that ensure gender equality conditions among their staff. Furthermore, it seeks to promote equality between genders in the workplace, which is essential for building a just society where everyone participates equally, having the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Gender equality means equal opportunities and choices, and equal participation of men and women in all sectors of public and private life.
