Larnaca police on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old suspect for a case of burglary and attempted theft.

According to the police, a Larnaca resident on Monday reported witnessing the 29-year-old, along with a second person, attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a parked car in a fenced-off area. Upon realising they had been seen the suspects fled. Police investigation has so far yielded testimony against the 29-year-old, who was arrested.

Meanwhile, Larnaca police, also on Tuesday, carried out a search under warrant of the home of a 33-year-old suspect. During the search, ski equipment and three weapons were found, identified as stolen over New Year’s Eve by their owner.

A warrant was issued against the 33-year-old for burglary and theft, under which he was arrested Tuesday night and taken into custody.

On Wednesday at dawn, police stopped a man driving the wrong direction on a one-way road. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and in a subsequent search of the vehicle, two unauthorised knives were found. The 39-year-old was arrested for illegal transport of weapons and subsequently tested positive for alcohol with a reading of 66 ml blood percentage.
