A massive bust on untaxed tobacco products on Tuesday led to the arrest of two suspects in Limassol, as customs officials found 390,640 smuggled cigarettes.

The goods, suspected of being smuggled over through the north, were found at a boat repair shop following a tip-off. Officials also uncovered 285,750 grammes of rolling tobacco and 113,600 heated cigarettes, which along with the other cigarettes have an estimated tax value of €139,630.

Officials found the tobacco hidden within three prefabricated warehouses and a fridge.

It is believed the goods were brought over from the north as they do not bear the warning labels in Greek and Turkish, as is the case with the products sold in the government-controlled areas.

One of the men arrested already has three court cases pending for similar incidents.
