Unrefined is a pocket, short stories collection, written in modern Greek by Giorgos Papakonstantinou, which has been translated into Turkish and English. A book presentation event will take place this June at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia. Language and book lovers are invited to attend the event on June 22.

The book includes short stories that deal with war, the social dimension of economic migration and the fast pace of modern society. Their common denominator is the love that remains unfulfilled with an open hand in the air. “Your body,” writes the event note, “my love, a damp graveyard for my soul to rest. Like a sculptor, you carve a small corner for me to rest. I hide, deep in your chest, drinking the clear water that gushes.”

The event will include narrations in three languages. Konstantinos Tsitsios will read in Greek, Nafia Akdeniz will read in the Turkish and Jill Catherine Mc Donald will narrate in English.
