Meanwhile, plans were announced by the government for the creation of a new deputy ministry of migration and asylum.

Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou explained that the new deputy ministry will aim to better deal with the issue of migration and offer better protection to those legally migrating to Cyprus.

Elsewhere, the north’s sheep and goat pox issue appears to have spread close to the capital, with six farm animals in the northern Nicosia suburb of Mandres culled on Thursday.
