A 71-year-old British tourist died in Paphos on Thursday following a dive.

According to police, the elderly man was part of a group of amateur divers, accompanied by a professional from a diving school, who were diving in the Moulia area of Geroskipou.

The group had completed the diving programme and had surfaced and boarded the boat back to shore when the man passed out.

The instructor immediately attempted to revive the 71-year-old with CPR to no avail. Upon landing at the beach the man was picked up by an ambulance and transported to the Paphos hospital where the doctors confirmed his death.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted as the exact causes of the man’s death are being investigated.
