A Greek Cypriot appeared in court in the north on Friday after having been arrested by Turkish Cypriot police at the Ayios Dhometios crossing point with 10 grammes of cocaine in his underwear.

The man was detained and searched when attempting to cross to the north on November 18 after police received a tip off. Police said they had discovered he had bought the cocaine in the Republic for €300 and had taken it to the north “for entertainment purposes”.

He was remanded in custody for three days.
